Understanding Ayuryoga
ayurveda
Ayurveda is not merely a system of medicine, it is a way of living. Originated more than five thousand years ago, it has continued to thrive across the Indian subcontinent and around the world. When approached with an open mind, it becomes clear that Ayurveda laid the foundation for many medical systems that emerged later.
Vata, Pitta and Kapha are the three fundamental humours (doshas) of the body. These concepts were later reflected in Hippocrates’ theory of humours, which went on to influence the development of conventional medicine. Ayurveda is therefore rightly regarded as the “Mother of all Medicines”
yoga
Yoga has always been the science of spiritual wellbeing. It enables us to reconnect with ourselves and cultivate emotional and physical stability. Modern research has shown that Yoga offers immense benefits for overall wellbeing, including improved immunity, metabolism, digestion and mental health.
Like Ayurveda, Yoga is also rooted in the principles of the three humours and the five elements, making Ayurvedic knowledge highly valuable in its application.
Ayuryoga
Ayuryoga is the term used for the harmonious integration of these two ancient sciences. When practised together, Ayurveda and Yoga complement one another, supporting faster healing and promoting multidimensional wellbeing.
Bringing the finest values of both sciences together helps achieve long-term, holistic and deeply transformative health.
